Wise words.

O generous love! that He, who smote,
In Man for man the foe,
The double agony in Man
For man should undergo.

And in the garden secretly,
And on the Cross on high,
Should teach His brethren, and inspire
To suffer and to die.

Now, name that hymn!

Praise to the Holiest in the height?!

I do love this hymn :)

Indeed. By JH Newman. Typical catholicism; the Catholics need an Anglican convert to write their music for them...

:P

Too easy, Augustine. Our parish organist is a convert and by the sounds of things, I think perhaps he was previously a Methodist, so lots of Wesley for us and none of the rubbish stuff left over from the 1980s - no bad thing! We were at my parents' parish recently, where my mother is organist but (sadly) not in charge of choosing hymns. We were trying to persuade her to be more of a primadonna and refuse to play the rubbish. I wonder if she ever will?
